College students have access to a handful of amenities they may not even know existed. Between the on-campus opportunities and online deals, take advantage of all the freebies while they last.
Dodge College frequently hosts a screenings of current and upcoming films at their own Marion Knott Studios theater. Sometimes these events even include Q&A sessions with directors and writers who have worked on the films. Just last semester, there was a pre-release showing of Pixar’s COCO featuring the director Lee Unkrich. Seating is usually first come, first served.

While entertainment can be expensive in Orange County, there are several local places that offer discounts for college students. Tickets and passes are offered at a reduce price for Newport Whales, Aquarium Pacific and Universal Studios. Chapman also offers discounts to special events when advertised, such as museum and concert trips. Tickets can be purchased online or for specific events at 633 W. Palm, Suite 118.
The Microsoft Office Suite is available for all staff and students to use on their personal machines. The apps available in the package include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. Each is incredible useful in day to day work. It’s almost a necessity to learn how to use it since almost every business and company uses some or all of these programs for their work.

Chapman offers a large variety of free and discounted software to use on their computers and personal machines. Programs range from the Adobe Creative Cloud for a huge variety of digital media tools to SPSS for statistical analysis of data. Students save 60 percent on the monthly and yearly Creative Cloud payments. Instead of paying $50 a month, students get it for $20, saving $360 each year.

The Julianne Argyros Fitness Center offers lockers for student use right underneath the gym. You must provide your own lock, but it is then yours to use for the whole school year. The lockers are first come first served, but there are still plenty open.
The perks don’t end after graduation — Chapman offers specials for alumni too. Alumni have a range of discounts available to them and family. Scholarships are available for their children if they choose to come here, up to a $1000 award. Alumni get further discounts on music, dance, and theatre events here on campus. Those that are getting married are eligible for a 10% discount on weddings at the Fish Interfaith Center.
